Whether you're after a plan for DA, a new pool or remodelling an existing garden the best starting point is always a Concept Plan. It gives you the power to work with an experienced designer and nail down a plan prior to investing a large amount of money in your backyard.

A clear, well thought out Concept Plan is crucial to any successful landscaping project. This is the first stage of our process following our initial contact and brief meeting. Our Concept Plans are designed for you therefor we respect your own visions and requirements.

How does the process begin?

Following our initial conversation which is usually over the phone, we schedule a design brief meeting which is most of the time best on site if possible. We'll discuss what you want to achieve including any cherries on top you may dream about. We'll cover budgets and timelines. Some ideas will be discussed although an open mind is encouraged at this stage. Better quality gardens are well thought out gardens. It also gives us a chance to assess your site.

With enough information in hand a Fee Proposal is developed for you. If you wish to proceed this stage forms part of the Design Stage and therefor the costs are included in the Fee Proposal however if you're not sure this is the right thing for you. We respect that and issue an invoice for our Design Consultation.

What do we need to proceed?

If you accept the Fee Proposal then a 30% Acceptance Fee is required along with a signed Form of Agreement. This secures time in our schedule.

The documents that we require to develop our Base Plan vary depending on the site however we prefer to receive a current Survey, House Plans and Council Conditions. You may want to supply inspiration images, plant lists or simply leave it open.

The Concept Stage is about communicating the design to the client.”

What do I receive?

Much like the Design Fees, presentations vary slightly from project to project depending on the unique requirements, the size and the budget. At MHGD we present our plans in a digital format and use a variety of techniques to communicate the design. We appreciate some owners struggle a little more with reading plans and visualising than others. We aim to find a balance between readability and detail. There's always a lot to take in at a Presentation meeting so we use visuals for plants and materials while noting at this stage is kept simple. It details the plant species and numbers as well as the materials and finishes. We want you to be able to take the plan away and know what you're looking at.

When we issue our Fee Proposal we will give you send you a set of documents similar in detail to the ones you can expect to receive.
